On January 6, many were publicly and privately urging President Trump to stop the violence at the Capitol, including prominent GOP leaders. Trump could have deployed the National Guard or called his Secretary of Defense, his Attorney General, or anyone at the Department of Homeland Security. He did not. Vice President Mike Pence stepped up and did each of these things.
