Trump Unleashes Harshest Criticism Yet, Labels Mike Pence as “Delusional”

Former President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on his former vice president and GOP presidential primary opponent, Mike Pence, calling him “delusional” and “not a very good person.” Trump’s comments were made in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

In the post, Trump stated, “WOW, it’s finally happened! Liddle’ Mike Pence, a man who was about to be ousted as Governor Indiana until I came along and made him V.P., has gone to the Dark Side.” He also denied ever telling Pence to prioritize him over the Constitution or describing him as “too honest.” Trump labeled Pence as delusional and accused him of trying to portray himself as a tough guy.

These remarks mark Trump’s harshest attack against Pence, who has criticized Trump for his role in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. Trump’s third indictment, filed earlier this week, includes a conversation between Trump and Pence on January 1, 2021, where Trump allegedly told Pence he was “too honest” when discussing the authority to change the election results. Despite breaking with Trump and certifying the results on the day of the riot, Pence has not ruled out pardoning the former president.

Pence has previously stated that Trump demanded he choose between him and the Constitution. In response to Trump’s indictments, Pence has emphasized that no one is above the law. While Pence has criticized Trump’s actions as reckless, he has not yet determined if they were criminal.

Since the filing of his third indictment, Trump, who is currently the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, has increased his attacks on Pence. Pence previously testified to a federal grand jury in the election probe. Trump falsely claimed in a post on Truth Social that Pence had power that he didn’t understand, despite the indictment portraying these claims as central to Trump’s attempt to obstruct the certification of the 2020 election results.

The feud between Trump and Pence highlights the ongoing divisions within the Republican party. As Trump continues to dominate the GOP landscape, Pence’s stance against the former president could impact his future political aspirations. The ongoing legal battles and public disagreements between Trump and his former vice president are likely to shape the narrative leading up to the 2024 presidential election.
