The U.S., in conjunction with allies including the U.K., Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, have struck 36 Houthi targets in Yemen, following up on previous strikes on Iranian-backed facilities in Iraq and Syria. These strikes are a retaliation for a drone attack that killed three American soldiers. The Houthi targets included “underground storage facilities, command and control, missile systems, UAV storage and operations sites, radars, and helicopters.” The U.S. has also destroyed six Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles in Yemen in self-defense. U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has stated that further strikes against the militias are to be expected.
