Record apprenticeship graduation fills needs in growing construction industry

Arizona is seeking to double its tradesmen and tradeswomen by 2026 amid a booming local economy suffering from labor shortages. As part of this initiative, more than 100 electricians recently graduated from the Phoenix Electrical JATC Apprenticeship Program. The four-year program involves classroom and lab time, as well as industry apprenticeships. According to the Arizona Apprenticeship Office, there are currently over 6,400 actively registered apprentices in 16 industries, such as construction, healthcare, and IT. The state is increasing its support for apprenticeship programs to help meet labor demands.
