Michigan city ramps up security after op-ed calls it ‘America’s jihad capital’

Steven Stalinsky, the executive director of the Middle East Media Research Institute, authored an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal to draw attention to protests across the US, particularly in Michigan, where people have shown support for Hamas amid the war with Israel. Since the start of the conflict on October 7, over 27,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and more than 1,200 people kidnapped by Hamas. Stalinsky insists his intention was not to incite hatred, but rather to express concern over counterterrorism. President Joe Biden, in a tweet referencing Dearborn, condemned hate in all forms, warning against Islamophobia and anti-Arab hate. The Wall Street Journal and a Dearborn spokeswoman have yet to respond to requests for comment.
