NEW YORK – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that it is awarding a $100,000 grant to Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. This grant aims to provide tools to introduce students, teachers, and community members to information about careers that are in critical need of promotion and diversity.

The grant will support the E3 project, which stands for Educate, Empower, and Employ. The project’s main focus is to educate future generations about their environment, specifically renewable energy and climate change. E3 will engage local K-12 students, educators, college students, and community members to increase public awareness and knowledge about climate change and renewable energy. It will also promote environmental stewardship and develop skills required for a sustainable and low-carbon future. Participants will explore topics such as air pollution, wind energy, and tidal energy. They will be encouraged to think critically about ways to reduce their communities’ carbon footprint.

Regional Administrator Lisa F. Garcia stated, “The E3 project at Rowan University is designed to engage learners of all ages through hands-on teaching and will encourage participants to think critically about ways to reduce their carbon footprint. Projects like this get young people engaged in protecting the environment and encourage them to consider careers in science and technology to promote environmental protection.”

This school year, thanks to President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, students across the country are going back to school with opportunities for a greener and cleaner future. The investments made through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act are helping the EPA build a future where all children can breathe cleaner air, drink cleaner water, and live in healthier neighborhoods.

This grant awarded to Rowan University is a significant step towards promoting environmental education and preparing future generations for the challenges of climate change. By engaging students, teachers, and community members, the E3 project will foster a greater understanding of renewable energy and environmental stewardship. It will also inspire young people to pursue careers in science and technology to protect and preserve the environment. With the support of the EPA and President Biden’s initiatives, the future looks brighter for a sustainable and low-carbon future.
