12-Member U.S. Junior Ryder Cup Team Announced for Competition in Rome

The United States Junior Ryder Cup Team has been unveiled, consisting of 12 talented junior golfers who will compete in the 2023 Junior Ryder Cup in Rome, Italy from September 26-28. The prestigious event will take place at Golf Nazionale for the first two days and then move to Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, the site of the 2023 Ryder Cup, for the singles matches on the final day.

This year’s edition of the Junior Ryder Cup will be held over three days instead of the usual two, with the singles matches taking place at the Ryder Cup venue. The U.S. Team, aiming for their seventh consecutive victory, comprises six boys and six girls who are U.S. citizens and members of the high school graduating class of 2024 or younger.

Paul Levy, PGA Past President and U.S. Junior Ryder Cup Captain, expressed his pride in the 12 talented individuals selected for the team. Levy commended their hard work and stated that they will represent the country with determination and pride. Chien, currently ranked eighth in the Rolex AJGA rankings, has recorded impressive finishes at major tournaments. Knaub, ranked 11th, won the Dustin Johnson World Junior earlier this year, and Wilson, ranked second, has recently finished runner-up at the 2023 Junior PGA Championship.

The boys’ team includes Jackson Byrd, Billy Davis, Nicholas Gross, Will Hartman, Jay Leng Jr., and Miles Russell. Byrd, the son of PGA Tour winner Jonathan Byrd, finished as the runner-up at the 2023 Junior PGA Championship. Davis, ranked sixth, won the 2023 Mayakoba Invitational.
