At the Schaumburg Sectional, Downers Grove North wrestler Kayleigh Loo pinned Maine West’s Lillian Garrett in the second period, capturing the 170-pound championship and booking a place in the state tournament. Other winners include Glenbard West’s Alycia Perez in the 100-pound finals and Glenbard East’s Nadia Shymkiv in the 105-pound category. The most accomplished wrestlers, Batavia’s Sydney Perry remained undefeated by handling Fenton’s Yamile Penaloza her first defeat of the season. The top four wrestlers from each of the 14 weight classes advanced to the state tournament.
