The WM Phoenix Open 2024 golf tournament experienced several disruptions due to unfavorable weather conditions and excessive fan turnout. The tournament was delayed for three days in a row due to inclement weather, and on Saturday, an overflow of general admission ticket sales led to a temporary closure of the gates, the first time in the history of the tournament. This decision, made by Thunderbirds Charities, was intended to preserve the atmosphere of the tournament and manage safety issues. Issues with transportation and accommodation for fans also occurred due to the rain that eliminated about 300 parking spots. Despite these disruptions, Canadian player Nick Taylor managed to maintain a one-stroke lead on the field at -13.
