A mental competency trial has been set for Jan. 19, 2024, for suspect Craig Martin Voss, who is accused of killing unsheltered people during a 2021 rainstorm. Voss’s attorney, Kaitlyn McCarthy, says his congestive heart failure and alleged mental instability have prevented him from attending court hearings. Voss is charged with three counts of vehicular manslaughter against victims Rodney Diffendal, Randy Ferris, and Walter Jones, along with further counts for injuring seven others. The suspect remains under house arrest and is prohibited from driving. His wife is believed to be his caregiver.
