Police responded around midday and disclosed that three male suspects were involved in the incident. All suspects have reportedly been identified, hospitalized, and taken into custody with no additional information on their conditions. The victim’s identity remains undisclosed.

At his arraignment, Alejandro Ramos, 22, was charged with murder and denied bail. Another suspect, Johnluis Sanchez, is still hospitalized and will face a murder charge upon recovery. A third suspect is being pursued by the law enforcement.

State police spokesperson Dave Procopio confirmed the shooting resulted from “an altercation among people on the street.” The incident also involved a public bus from Pioneer Valley Transit Authority, which has refrained from commenting on the ongoing investigation.

The investigation is being headed by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit along with the Holyoke Police Department. They were alerted about the shooting near the intersection of Sargeant and Maple Streets, and are continuing the search for suspects with the help of patrol and K-9 teams.

Holyoke Mayor Joshua A. Garcia expressed his condolences and frustration over the tragedy. He pledged to utilize all resources to curb such violence in the city.

Holyoke, situated about 90 miles from Boston, has a population of approximately 38,000 and houses the International Volleyball Hall of Fame.
