Pharmacy in Maui Steps Up to Provide Medications for Wildfire Survivors
In the wake of the devastating Lahaina wildfire in Maui, Dr. Cory Lehano of Mauliola Pharmacy received an overwhelming number of calls and messages from patients who had lost their homes and medications. Recognizing the urgent need for medication, Lehano mobilized his team and began providing free prescriptions to those affected by the fire. Many survivors rely on medications for conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular health, and mental health, making the loss of these medications an additional disaster.
During the initial chaos following the fire, Lehano’s pharmacy operated without insurance or co-pays, providing medications free of charge. As the situation stabilized, they were able to work with insurance companies to find solutions for patients. In addition to medication, Lehano’s team has also provided care for burn victims, treated skin infections, and conducted COVID tests. Despite the financial toll on the pharmacy, Lehano remains committed to helping the community.

When asked if they were willing to continue their mission, every team member responded with a resounding “yes.”
