Walmart is predicted to post a strong quarter of sales growth with a 3.2% jump in US same-store sales, according to Bloomberg consensus data. However, this is a significant decrease from the 8.8% growth reported in the same period last year. The retailer’s stores experienced a 1.1% dip in foot traffic in Q4, but it improved at the end of December and turned positive in January. Walmart’s full fiscal year US same-store sales are expected to increase by 5.35% due to consumers, especially higher-income shoppers, turning to the retailer for groceries in late 2022. The retail giant is also reportedly in talks to acquire TV maker and video platform Vizio for $2 billion as it competes with Amazon Prime.
