Pursuit comes to fiery end after driver ditches stolen big rig near Rancho Cucamonga – NBC Los Angeles

An hour-long police chase of a stolen big rig ended in flames when the vehicle’s front tires were blown out by a spike strip deployed by the California Highway Patrol. The truck was stolen from a gas station in Bakersfield, but it’s unclear what it was carrying. Despite the blowout near Upland, the driver continued eastbound on the 210 freeway, with sparks flying from the wheel wells. The vehicle eventually caught fire in Rancho Cucamonga, and the driver fled on foot into a residential area before being apprehended at an apartment complex.
