The Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia’s Memorial Hall is undergoing a $4 million renovation ahead of the building’s 150th anniversary in 2026. The upgrade includes the replacement of marble floors, originally sourced from Italy, France, and Spain, which have suffered from years of wear and tear. The renovation project is part of the larger Memorial Hall 2026 initiative, which aims to prepare the building for celebrations of the nation’s 250th birthday, also known as the Semiquincentennial. Throughout the project, visitors will be able to observe the renovation process, with museum educators creating related play opportunities. Future renovations include the repair of the building’s dome and facade, which will require additional funding.
