Many students at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) are facing daily transportation difficulties as CPS has cut bus service for 30% of its students since August. The move, triggered by an impending budget deficit, has forced students to rely on various forms of public transportation, often commuting for hours each day. Parents have suggested solutions like allowing their children to ride buses meant for students with disabilities as these services have not been cut, but CPS has rejected these proposals. Meanwhile, bus vendors claim they have available drivers but were declined by CPS due to the cost.
