Feds OK state plan to expand KidsCare eligibility, pay parent caregivers

13

The state of Arizona has received federal approval to expand the income eligibility for its KidsCare program, a low-cost health care initiative for children, potentially adding 10,000 children to the program. Additionally, officials have been given the green light to make the Parents as Paid Caregivers program, initially a pandemic-era initiative compensating parents who care for their disabled children, permanent. Governor Katie Hobbs stated that access to affordable health care for children leads to improved high school and college graduation rates, better job prospects, and less reliance on Medicaid in adulthood. The changes will increase the income eligibility limit from 200% to 225% of the federal poverty level, allowing a family of four earning up to $70,200 to enroll their children.
