The actor was diagnosed with ALS in 2018 and had been open about his battle with the disease. Throughout his career, Mitchell acquired more than 50 film and television credits, including roles in “Jericho” and “The Astronaut Wives Club.” He was remembered by his family as a “hope seeker, daydreamer, dream believer,” who lived with his illness with grace and a commitment to joy. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and their two young children.
