He discusses his experience of directing both semi-improvised, near-documentary-style dramas such as “Grill Point” and tightly-scripted fare like “From Hilde, With Love”. Dresen highlights his approach to filmmaking, emphasizing improvisation, team work and a focus on human decency, and his fascination with East German history. His latest film, “From Hilde, With Love”, featuring Babylon Berlin star Liv Lisa Fries, tells the real-life story of Hilde Coppi, a left-wing resistance fighter executed by the Nazis in 1943.
