A 13-year-old student at Viking Middle School in Gurnee, Illinois, has been charged after bringing a loaded firearm to school. The school was put on a soft lockdown after another student overheard him discussing the weapon. Local authorities, assisted by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy and a police dog, conducted a search and discovered the loaded gun in the student’s locker. Following his arrest, the student was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon in a school and released to his parents.
