Donald Trump and 18 others were charged in Georgia as part of an alleged scheme to illegally overturn his 2020 election loss and stop the constitutional transfer of power.
All 19 defendants, including Trump, were charged in the August 2023 indictment with criminal racketeering under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, which ties together individual criminal acts to demonstrate a broader criminal network and conspiracy. There were 40 additional criminal charges detailed in the indictment.
So far, 4 of the 19 defendants have pled guilty in the case, each to varying charges. Fulton County prosecutors have discussed plea deals with at least 6 other defendants.
