Fire-damaged North Sacramento furniture store prepares for rebuilding

Business Leaders Seek Answers After Fire Destroys Popular North Sacramento Furniture Store

Sacramento, CA – Business leaders in Sacramento are demanding answers following a devastating fire that destroyed Casa Bella Galleria, a beloved furniture store located on Del Paso Boulevard. The fire, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, caused extreme damage to the building, leading the city to declare it unfit for reentry and subsequently demolish most of the structure.

Casa Bella Galleria has been owned by Shane and Rhoda Curry for the past 20 years. Shane, the vice president of operations, received a call alerting him to the alarms going off in the building. As he approached the scene, he witnessed the glow of the fire in the sky, leaving him in shock and disbelief.

The once-thriving store now consists of only a few remaining walls adorned with murals. In a heartwarming display of support, local business owners and leaders gathered near one of these walls on Sunday night to show their solidarity with Shane and Rhoda.

Shane expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, “It means a lot, and it’s very encouraging. We were pretty depressed this morning, but we’re getting an outpouring of support, like, okay, we’re not in the wrong place. We’re in the right place.”

Rhoda, the shop’s president, also appreciated the overwhelming support from the community, describing it as “absolutely amazing.”

Among those in attendance was Daniel Savala, the Executive Director of the Del Paso Boulevard Partnership. Savala expressed his devastation upon learning about the destruction of Shane and Rhoda’s business, emphasizing their significance as community leaders. He further voiced concerns that the incident may be part of a larger pattern, possibly involving a known arsonist who has been targeting businesses on Del Paso Boulevard for over a year.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Sacramento Fire Department. While it remains unclear whether arson is suspected or if the department was aware of a potential serial arsonist, community leaders are eager to obtain answers.

North Sacramento Chamber of Commerce Vice President Andy Hernandez stated, “We want the city and the ATF, whoever’s involved, to figure out who did this, and hopefully bring them to justice if it was a person.”

As the investigation unfolds, business leaders have pledged their support to Shane and Rhoda, vowing to expedite the rebuilding process by assisting with permits and other requirements. The owners themselves are determined to reopen Casa Bella Galleria before the end of the year, expressing their love for the community and their commitment to staying in the area.

Despite the devastation caused by the fire, the unity and resilience displayed by the community offer hope for Casa Bella Galleria’s future. As Sacramento comes together to support the Curry family and seek justice for the incident, the rebuilding process is expected to commence soon, allowing the beloved furniture store to once again thrive in North Sacramento.
