The Khmelnytsky City Treatment and Diagnostic Center in Ukraine has installed solar panels on the roofs of three of its clinics as part of an energy project. The panels, which cost the enterprise 4.5 million hryvnia, produce clean electricity for their own use and also sell excess power back to the grid using the Net Billing system, not the “green” tariff. The center’s consumption averages between 60-70 kilowatts per hour, and any surplus, especially during weekends, is sent to the city’s external power grid. The solar panels have also helped the clinics reduce the impact of power outages, providing additional capacity. The panels’ return of investment is projected to be within four and a half years.
