The education system in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine, has been undergoing a significant transformation since 2023, with the third stage of this underway and set to conclude in 2027 with the transition to a full 12-year education. Many schools have changed their type and name, with students now attending 5 primary schools, 16 gymnasiums, and 18 lyceums. The war and the resulting migration of families abroad have decreased the number of students, causing a reevaluation of the planned school network. Additionally, vocational education has become increasingly popular, further impacting the number of high school students. The construction of safe havens, doubling as additional educational space, has begun in some schools and kindergartens to counteract the ongoing war-related challenges.
