New Orleans Sewage and Water Board Turbine Loses Power Due to Heavy Rains

Following overnight heavy rain, street flooding has been reported in New Orleans. The Sewerage and Water Board (SWBNO) reports power loss to Turbine 4 with DPS 12, servicing Broadmoor, also offline. DPS 6 and DPS 1, serving Lakeview, Mid-City, parts of Jefferson Parish and Broadmoor respectively, are currently operating at reduced capacity. SWBNO officials are working to restore all equipment.

According to Streetwise, both the Carrollton and Canal underpass are currently closed. Residents are advised to avoid Octavia, Claiborne, and Airline area due to high waters. Fleur De Lis from Harrison to old Hammond Highway is inundated with at least 6 inches of water, with certain spots near the park reported to be higher.
