U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is now accepting applications from young hunters who wish to participate in a special deer hunt at Millwood Lake on November 4th and 5th. The Millwood Tri-Lakes Project Office will issue eight permits to hunters aged 6-15. Applicants must submit a completed application form by October 6th in order to be considered for the hunt. Application forms can be obtained by visiting the Millwood Tri-Lakes Project Office or by contacting them at 501-340-1457 or 870-898-3343.

A random drawing will be conducted on October 11th to select the participants, who will then be notified. In order to participate, hunters must have guardian consent and have completed a hunter’s education course. Additionally, they must be accompanied by an unarmed adult over the age of 21 during the hunt. It is also required that participants provide their own firearms and demonstrate skill in safely operating them. The Millwood Tri-Lakes Project Office will provide access and hunting blinds to ensure a safe and successful outdoor recreational experience for the youth hunters.

This special deer hunt not only provides an opportunity for young hunters to engage in a recreational activity but also aims to foster an interest in conservation and the outdoors. It serves as a platform to develop a good hunting ethic while contributing to the improvement of the deer herd in the area.
