Forty people were shot, four fatally, in shootings across Chicago this weekend, according to the police. The incidents occurred in various neighborhoods, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the city.

Drive-by shooting in West Garfield Park
Five people were shot in a drive-by shooting early Sunday in West Garfield Park. One of the victims, a 40-year-old woman, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at a hospital. The other four victims were taken to various hospitals in fair condition. The victims reported that a person in a vehicle shot at them around 2 a.m. in the 4000-block of West Washington Street. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Fatal shooting in Humboldt Park
In another fatal shooting early Sunday, a man was shot to death in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. The incident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. in the 1000-block of North California Avenue. The authorities have not made any arrests, and area detectives are currently investigating the case.

Man shot while riding a bicycle
A man was shot while riding a bicycle early Sunday on the Near North Side. The 29-year-old victim was shot in the thigh and arm around 12:15 a.m. in the 600-block of West Scott Street. He was taken to a hospital in good condition. No one has been taken into custody regarding this incident.

Saturday afternoon shooting in Gage Park
A man was killed in a Saturday afternoon shooting in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood. The shooting occurred in the 5000-block of South Talman Avenue at about 5:18 p.m. The victim, a 59-year-old man, was near an alley when two individuals approached him. One of them pulled out a gun and shot the man in the shoulder. The victim was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The offenders remain at large, and area detectives are actively investigating the case.

Teenage boy shot in Chicago Lawn
A teenage boy was shot in Chicago Lawn less than an hour before the Gage Park shooting. The 15-year-old was in an alley in the 6400-block of South Troy Street at about 4:35 p.m. when he was shot in the thigh. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was reported to be in good condition. No arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

Attempted robbery turns into a shooting
An attempted robbery on Chicago’s South Side turned into a shooting early Saturday. The incident occurred at about 1:50 a.m. in Morgan Park near West 110th Street and Western Avenue. A 22-year-old man was approached by someone who tried to rob him at gunpoint. When the victim refused to hand over his belongings, he was shot in the chest. The suspect fled the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital and is in fair condition. Further information about the shooting has not been provided by the police.

Shooting on Chicago’s West Side
Shortly after the attempted robbery, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. She self-transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital. There are no suspects in custody, and Area Four Detectives are currently investigating.

Overall, the string of shootings over the weekend adds to the growing number of gun violence incidents in Chicago. Last weekend alone, at least 27 people were shot, five of whom died.
