The human rights defenders are organizing a street photo exhibition titled “Crimea through the eyes of civil journalists: 10 years in captivity” which will last only one day, on August 23rd. The exhibition will feature a large emblem of the Crimean Tatars “tamga”, constructed from 48 photos, almost 100 square meters of photo evidence of Russian occupiers’ torment over the Crimean Tatar people. These photos were taken by civil journalists who risked their lives documenting arrests, searches, and court tortures at different periods after the unlawful annexation of the peninsula. Visitors will also be able to write letters to political prisoners as part of the “Letters to a Free Crimea” support campaign. The photo exhibition is carried out in five regional centers: Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Khmelnytsky, and Dnipro. The exhibition is organized by the Human Rights Center ZMINA with support from the President of Ukraine’s Representative Office in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
