Starting from September 1st, residents of multi-apartment buildings in a Ukrainian city will see their utility bills triple due to an increased electricity price that drives up the cost of all utility services. The Municipal Company “Ozerna” explained that the maintenance of premises, including cleaning, arranging yards, playgrounds, basements, and technical floors, and servicing of the in-house systems are all included in the utility bill. The company also bears the cost of supply electricity for elevators and communal lighting. The total cost depends not only on the size of the apartment but also on the area of the adjoining territory, roofing, and staircases. Due to a nearly 250% increase in electricity price, the company, which relies solely on residents’ utility payments, had to increase the price of their services by approximately one-third.
