Act to Reduce Inflation Attracts Four Companies and Creates 850 Jobs in the State

Inflation Reduction Act Stimulates Growth in West Virginia

Following 18 months since its introduction, the Inflation Reduction Act has successfully attracted businesses and employment opportunities to West Virginia.

Enacted in 2022, the law aimed to foster clean energy manufacturing within traditional energy communities.

E2, a consortium of business moguls and investors, reported the legislation has catalyzed over $1.3 billion investment influx into the state and created 850 jobs.

New players in the state include Berkshire Hathaway Energy, Gestamp, Form Energy, and Solar Holler.

Berkshire Hathaway is pioneering a solar-powered microgrid at a retired aluminum plant in Ravenswood, while Gestamp is slated to produce electric vehicle components at its South Charleston facility.

Additionally, Form Energy is constructing a storage battery plant in Weirton, with Solar Holler deploying solar panels to power the entire Wayne County school system.

E2 recorded a total of 305 projects in 41 states influenced by the Act, accounting for over $123 billion in investment and more than 125,000 jobs.
