Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine commemorates Chernobyl tragedy along with the entire country every year on April 26th. This year marks the 38th anniversary of the largest technogenic disaster in human history. Various citizens, Chernobyl disaster liquidators, and city leaders gather at the monument “Heroes of Firefighters, who saved the world from a nuclear disaster” to honor the heroes of Chernobyl. The attendees pay tribute to the victims of the Chernobyl tragedy with a minute of silence and leave flowers and candles at the monument. The courage and resilience that the Chernobyl heroes displayed during the disaster continue to inspire Ukrainians today.
