United Airlines flight slid off runway when landing in Houston Friday, officials said – Houston Public Media
A United Airlines aircraft slid off the runway at Bush Intercontinental Airport on Friday morning, marking the third incident the airline encountered in a week. Another flight from Houston had an engine fire mid-air on Monday, reportedly caused by bubble wrap being sucked into the engine. A separate United Airlines flight departing San Francisco had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles after losing a tire shortly after takeoff. The incidents follow a six-week Federal Aviation Administration audit revealing quality control issues on Boeing aircraft. None of the incidents resulted in passenger injuries.
