A container ship, the Dali, collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, causing a significant part of the bridge to collapse into the Patapsco River. Authorities are calling the incident a “developing mass casualty event.” The crash occurred at night, and rescue teams are potentially looking for up to seven individuals. The Dali, under the control of two pilots and managed by Synergy Marine Group, was undamaged and all crew members are accounted for. The accident has caused Maryland Governor Wes Moore to declare a state of emergency, and the FBI is involved in the response.
