The ninth annual Chicago Black Restaurant Week is currently underway and will run until February 25th. The event, which highlights Black-owned food and beverage businesses across the city, features 52 participating eateries. In other local news, former state legislator Annazette Collins was convicted on four of six tax-related charges, and two national gun rights organizations are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Illinois’ ban on assault weapons. Additionally, the Chicago White Sox are entering spring training with “a lot to prove” following a disappointing 101-loss season.
