Vernon Hills’ Annika Chudy wins state title

Vernon Hills senior Annika Chudy won her first state title in gymnastics by clinching the floor exercise at the state meet in Palatine. The victory made her the first Vernon Hills gymnast to win the state title in this event. Chudy previously earned five state medals, adding three more during the recent weekend, with the gold in the floor exercise. She scored 9.675, beating Hersey junior Sabrina Nemcek, who had previously secured the all-around state title.
