The soldiers who were declared dead by Russia after the Il-76 plane crashed in the Belgorod region are still considered prisoners of war. Ukrainian military intelligence confirmed that 65 of the names on the list belong to Ukrainian defenders who are being held in Russian captivity. The crash of the IL-76 and Russia’s statements had no effect on their status as prisoners of war. According to Ukrainian intelligence, these 65 soldiers were submitted for exchange, but this was cancelled due to the plane crash. It is claimed that the plane was transporting missiles for the S-300 complexes, which the Russians are using to bombard the Kharkiv region.
