Former President Donald Trump has claimed that his widely recognized struggles with discrimination have made him popular among Black voters. He believes his booking mugshot from Fulton County jail played a role in increasing his popularity with this demographic. Trump gave a speech at the Black Conservative Federation’s annual Honors Gala, during which he compared himself to Alexei Navalny, a deceased Russian opposition leader. He also emphasized his economic policies and his promise to tackle migration at the border. Despite his efforts to court Black voters, Trump’s support in this group remains at 25% according to an AP-NORC poll.
