Texas AG Paxton hopes to have securities fraud charges dismissed

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s securities fraud trial will proceed after a judge denied his motion to dismiss the charges. Paxton is accused of recruiting investors for a Dallas-based tech company without revealing his compensation from the company, a charge he denies. The case has been delayed for nine years due to issues over court venues, scheduling, and last year’s impeachment trial. Paxton’s lawyers recently moved to dismiss the charges, claiming that his right to a speedy trial had been violated, but prosecutors blamed the delay on Paxton’s legal team. The trial is scheduled to start on April 15th.
