Special counsel charges FBI informant with lying to the bureau about Hunter and Joe Biden – NBC 7 San Diego

An FBI informant, Alexander Smirnov, was indicted on two counts of providing the bureau with false information regarding President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden during the 2020 presidential campaign. Smirnov was a confidential human source for the FBI since 2010 and allegedly provided false derogatory information about both Bidens after Joe Biden announced his candidacy for president in 2020. The indictment states that Smirnov falsely claimed that the Ukrainian energy company Burisma paid Hunter and Joe Biden $5 million, and alleged that the officials had said they hired Hunter because he would protect them through his father. The indictment says these claims were fabrications and that Smirnov only had contact with Burisma executives in 2017, when Joe Biden had no ability to influence U.S. policy.
