San Marcos Buc-ee’s inches closer to setting up shop

The San Marcos city council in Texas has passed a resolution for Texas-based convenience store chain, Buc-ee’s, to build a 74,000-square-foot travel center on a 22-acre site along Interstate 35. While this doesn’t finalize the plans, if the resolution is passed a second time, the center will feature 120 fueling positions and between 100 and 175 spaces for electric vehicle charging stations. The council is also seeking a $50 million investment from Buc-ee’s for the project, a guarantee of at least 175 jobs with benefits, and a $100,000 donation to the city’s community fund. The second reading of the resolution will take place on March 5.
