The iconic Palace Grill in Chicago will be closed until further notice following a fire that caused extensive damage to the interior. The restaurant, a favorite among locals and celebrities alike, including Vice President Al Gore and Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, has been in operation since 1938 and has been part of the Lemperis family since 1955. A fundraiser, organized by a dedicated customer, Katrina Vlasich, aims to raise $15,000 to help rebuild the diner. Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it has been deemed accidental by the Chicago Fire Department.
