Stephen Mays has rejoined the Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority board after leaving four years ago, taking the place of William Cook who has moved to the Gary Sanitary Board of Commissioners. Mays was appointed by Mayor Eddie Melton, while Peter J. Visclosky, the Authority chairman, formally welcomed him back at a recent meeting. In other airport-related news, the authority has approved a contract with Forvis LLP for a 2022 audit worth $60,500, pending approval by the State Board of Accounts. Lastly, the airport’s U.S. customs facility is nearing its 500th arrival since its opening in 2018, with a ceremony planned to celebrate the milestone.
