Luke Michael Starling, a Friendswood, Texas resident, was sentenced to life in prison for killing his father with a crossbow in 2022. Starling, who was 18 at the time of the murder, moved in with his father after a prolonged period of homelessness and drug abuse. Despite claiming there was no dispute or anger involved, Starling shot his father in the back of the head with a crossbow. After the murder, he fled to Lampasas County but was tracked through cellphone records and confessed to the crime. His father’s body was found covered with blankets when family members went to check on Luke, thinking he may have overdosed.
