The California Highway Patrol initiated a pursuit of a driver in Riverside who was wanted for domestic violence, carjacking, and a no-bail warrant. During the chase, the driver collided with a center divider on the northbound 101 Freeway in the Encino area, which resulted in significant damage to the vehicle. This damage caused the vehicle to slow down, giving the CHP the chance to execute a second pit maneuver. The hour-long pursuit eventually ended near Kanan Road in Agoura Hills.
