Juana Bacallao, a renowned Cuban singer and cabaret diva, has passed away at the age of 98. Known for her husky voice and showstopping performances at the Tropicana club in the 1940s and 50s, Bacallao had a career spanning decades, performing alongside musical greats such as Nat King Cole. Born Neri Amelia Martínez Salazar, Bacallao was discovered as a teen and became a sensation in Cuba’s cabaret scene. Despite her advanced age, she continued performing until recently. The cause of her death was not revealed.
