The City of Crown Point has allocated its $2.3 million share from the County Economic Development Income Tax for several initiatives between 2024 and 2025. These initiatives include local road and construction projects, incentives to bring new business to the city, paying off a general obligation bond, and helping fund the expansion of the South Shore Railroad. The Crown Point City Council confirmed these plans in a recent meeting and also revealed plans to hire an economic development director to assist in managing these funds. The new role is intended to help represent the city with economic development entities and seek additional funding. The council is expected to finalize a job description for the role in its March meeting.
