Combat general: what is known about Oleksandr Pavlyuk, who headed the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces


Former First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pavlyuk, has been appointed as the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, succeeding Oleksandr Syrskyi. Pavlyuk has an extensive military background, including serving as a tank platoon commander, commanding Ukrainian peacekeeping forces in Kosovo, and playing an active role in repelling Russian aggression against Ukraine from 2014 onwards. In 2015, Pavlyuk was promoted to major general and later to lieutenant general in 2018. He also held the position of Commander of the Joint Forces Operation and organized training to counter a full-scale Russian invasion. His contributions earned him the title of Hero of Ukraine in March 2022.
