The influx of migrants in San Diego has led to hundreds being dropped off at a bus stop instead of a reception center, which ran out of local funding earlier than anticipated. Migrant aid groups, left scrambling to support migrants, set up makeshift arrangements such as charging points and transport to the airport. Several cities, including San Diego, are struggling to provide services for migrants without compromising on key local services, with shelters being filled to capacity for months. The nonprofit South Bay Community Services (SBCS) has received significant funding since October to support these migrants, however, the funding is stretched thin due to the high service costs. Meanwhile, local governments and aid groups have called for additional resources and legislative action to address the outdated immigration laws.
