A visit to the Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition

6

The Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition, hosted at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, is the longest-running exhibit of African American art in the country. This year’s exhibition showcases 143 artworks chosen from over 800 submissions. The event, which has a 54-year history, was initially organized in 1970 to provide exhibition opportunities for Black artists, who were then severely limited. It was renamed in 1984 and expanded to cover achievements in sciences, with the goal of encouraging Black children to pursue STEM careers. The exhibit will run through April 21 and can be viewed online.
