3 killings in as many days – NBC 7 San Diego

San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit has stated that despite recent homicides, violent crime is not spiking in the city. Over a recent holiday weekend, three homicides occurred in targeted attacks, but there is no evidence to connect them. Chief Nisleit assured that his job is to ensure investigators have the resources they need to solve these cases and pointed out that homicide detectives in the city close over 80% of their cases. Despite the recent wave of violence, the city is still on track for fewer homicides than the previous year. At the same time last year, there had already been nine homicides compared to this year’s five.
